Regarding PLASTIC BAGS! We can’t live with them yet can’t live without them. Or can we?
Let’s take a look. Compostable OR Biodegradable is the question of the day.
The Biodegradable Products Institute certifies plastic bags that have gone through a lot of testing so they can actually biodegrade. Look for the BPI logo on packaging. Note, this means something will break down and become part of the soil. It will take a few years, some take a thousand, others take only seven.
Now, a compostable product is a plant-based product intended to break down and be potentially beneficial in soil. These products are not guaranteed to hold a heavy amount of rubbish so the next segment will be about alternative uses of rubbish. Laugh with me here. It can be fun. Wait and see.
The Strategist suggests six trash bags used by composters and eco-conscious consumers. The Robust Kitchen lady has some great research as well. Both are posted in my new Facebook group-The Hive. After reviewing, I believe the best kitchen bag is the Ecosmart 13 gallon trash bag. For the dirty details visit The Hive.
My favorite option is the good ole paper sack and they are less expensive but not typical. I ask for paper sacks at stores if I have unexpectedly left my reusable bags in the car. The best thing to do is remember to put my mini bag, that rolls up into a small ball, back into my purse. It really doesn’t take up any more room than the three pair of glasses, wallet, and cosmetic bag. WAH!
WHICH KIND OF BAG LADY WILL YOU BE?
That’s a wrap, The Evolving Mother.
