NO SPARKLE ON THE 4TH

Updated: Sep 12, 2020

This fourth of July was indubitably without its usual sparkle. Every writer this holiday weekend will take time to think of a word that will be unique so their message will be appealing and be read thoroughly. I didn’t have to tap my friend who has a ‘way with words’. I’m so proud of myself. I am even prouder that I finished this message as I have little sparkle or inspiration today. My mom would laugh and say I was full of bologna. It is true. When I was little I ate a lot of bologna!

Well mom, having had some bologna recently, I am hoping for sparkle and inspiration to help transform the world. Who knows at this point in this early stage who will be the most transformed, me or someone in the world. My dear long-time family friend and elementary teacher, Mrs. Martin identified me at age 18 in a poem as having a need to take on world problems. I have no idea where it comes from or who else in my family thinks they are super woman or super man. My aunt, who is pretty super, said to me when I was about 30, that she saw compassion and leadership in me. I recall both times looking around the room wondering who they were talking about. We did have mirrors in our home but I didn’t see a red cape or a neon light flashing on my forehead with the words ‘You Got This’.

I now wear glasses that help me see better both near and far. It has been an adjustment to have something in my way on my face. It can distract my focus at times. That is just what happened this fourth day in July. I woke realizing there would be no sparkle that would typically be the ta-da for the day’s celebration. Our country’s independence is desired by so many yet our country is in a state of turmoil.

I cleaned off my glasses and saw a new perspective thankfully, not just for this day but for my life. Kinda like inspiring, if glasses could inspire. Some days can hold hopes and expectations whose affects not only effect our day but our life. The trick is to take time to focus and not take on the world in one day. Embrace what you have to offer the world that day. Master that trick so it becomes a part of your deck (personality). Be the change you want to see in the world. It’s the only thing that will ever make a difference. Evolve your perspective, write ‘You Got This’ on your mirror! May your vision see sparkles no matter what is happening in life. –The Evolving Mother
